HBA Apiary Nucs

  • Here's what you'll receive and what you need to know:

    • Contents: Each nuc will generally consist of:

      • Three frames of brood in all stages of development

      • Two frames of vital resources (pollen, nectar, honey)

      • A proven and marked overwintered laying queen from the mother colony

      • A healthy population of worker bees in all stages

    • Hands-On Experience: On the scheduled pickup day, you'll actively participate in the nuc creation process, guided by experienced members of our Apiary Committee. This is a valuable learning opportunity!

    • Equipment: You are responsible for bringing the necessary equipment to transport and house your nuc:

      • A Pro Nuc/Jester Nuc box or all of the following:

      • Hive body and frames (frames are only needed if the hive body is larger than a 5-frame box)

      • Inner cover

      • Top cover

      • Bottom board

    • Pickup: Your nuc must be collected from the apiary on the day it is created/scheduled. Schedules will be provided in the coming weeks.

    • No Frame Exchange: You will get 5 frames and you do not need to bring frames for exchange purposes
