Swarm Committee Responder Application

Interested in being on HBA’s official swarm response team? Fill out the application below by February 1, 2026. The final committee will be announced by February 15, 2026.

The Huguenot Beekeepers Association (HBA) will use a Dispatcher approach to respond to swarm reports.

The Process

  1. An HBA member volunteers to be a Dispatcher for the year, with a backup identified.

  2. A single hotline phone number is established to route all calls to the Dispatcher.

  3. The Dispatcher screens incoming calls using a script to confirm it's a honey bee swarm and not another insect or a cutout.

  4. If it is a confirmed swarm, the Dispatcher forwards the report to a qualified Responder from an annually created list.

  5. The Dispatcher selects Responders based on their location and availability, and then the order in which they signed up.

  6. A Responder must report the outcome of the call back to the Dispatcher to be eligible for future calls.
